The Magical Burlesque Expose

Näin vuoden vaihduttua haluaisin vielä palata takaisin viime vuoden tunnelmiin, sillä en enää joulukuun aikana rehellisesti ehtinyt / jaksanut tyhjentää puhelimeni muistia koneelle, jotta olisin saanut kaikki kuvat käytyä läpi kyseisestä tapahtumasta.

Now when we have started a new year, I would still like to go back to last years final burlesque event; Burlesque Expose. I would have written about it sooner, but I must be honest and say that I was really lazy to transfer all the photos from my phone to my laptop and start going through all the pictures we took from the event. So now it's time to talk about it.

Illan pääesiintyjinä ovat alan arvostettu ammattilainen Kitten De Ville Yhdysvalloista, tyylikäs, Neoburleskiin sekä sirkukseen erikoistunut Natsumi Scarlett Hollannista sekä klassisen sensuelli Vicky Butterfly Iso-Britanniasta. Heidän saattelemanaan lavalle saapuu huikea joukko toinen toistaan säteilevämpiä kotimaisia burleski-tähtiä: The Ravishing Shangri-La Rubies, Turrrbocherry, Tinker Bell, Olivia Rouge, Lady Laverna, Stella Polaire ja Vermillion Dames.

Burleski-esityksistä saadaan nauttia Nokia Big Bandin säestämänä, esitysten väliosuudet tunnelmoittaa DJ Jirci, ja illan päätteeksi myös yleisö pääsee keinahtelemaan Mr Willy's Rock and Roll Experience -bändin viettelemänä. Illallisbuffetissa ennen varsinaista esitystä on tarjolla taidokkaasti valmistettua ruokaa ja ihania makuja."

Näin esiteltiin tämän vuotinen Burlesque Expose-tapahtuma heidän facebook sivuillaan. En ole oikeastaan kiinnittänyt huomiota aiemmin kyseiseen tapahtumaan, kunnes Shirley otti sen puheeksi. Hän oli viime vuonna miehensä kanssa käynyt tutustumassa tapahtumaan ja vaikka reissu olikin rankka sairastellessa ja istumapaikat loppuneet, hän tykkäsi siitä sen verran, että halusi tänä vuonna uudelleen. Ajattelin, että mikä ettei! Yksi reissu vielä vuoden 2016 kunniaksi.

I didn't even know about Burlesque Expose before Shirley told me about it. She attended last year with her boyfriend and even though she was sick, tired of standing and had to leave earlier, she liked it so much she thought we should attend this year. After hearing what the event is all about I thought, why not? One more trip for the year.

Nap time

Burlesque Exposeen oli tällä kertaa saatavilla kolmet erilaiset lippuvaihtoehdot; halpa seisomapaikka show:hun, keskihintainen istumapaikka show:hun tai kallein vaihtoehto, johon kuului ensin ruokailu musiikin parissa ja virallisen show:n seuraaminen samaisen ruokailupöydän äärestä myöhemmin illalla. Me valitsimme keskimäisen vaihtoehdon.

So there were three ticket options; the first one was the cheapest, only for the main show and you could stand wherever you want. The second was a bit more expensive, included the main show and a seat in front of the stage. The third ticked was the most expensive one, and it was more of and "Dinner and a Show" kind of type. It started earlier with dinner while listening to the big band play and included also the main show while being seated by your own table. We chose the second option; seats by the stage only for the main show.

Virallinen show-osuus alkoi klo 21. Olimme aiemmin samana aamuna saapuneet junalla Tampereelle, käyneet pinen shoppailu kierroksen ennen siirtymistä Omena-hotelliin menoa ja laittautumista. Olin pitkään miettinyt pukuani kyseistä tapahtumaa varten, sillä sitä mainostettiin hienostuneempana tapahtumana, jossa puettiin päälle parasta. Ensin ajattelin Monica-mekkoa, mutta koska olin juuri käyttänyt sitä kuvauksissa pari viikkoa aiemmin, halusinkin jotain erilaista. Yhtäkkiä muistin vihreän Ava-mekon, jota en ollut vielä kertakaaan käyttänyt (laputkin oli paikoillaan, vaikka taisin ostaa sen jokaksi vuotta sitten).

So the official show began at 9PM. We arrived to Tampere in the morning first to do some shopping and then we signed in to our hotel. I had been thinking about what to wear for a while, because I heard that the event is a bit more fancy than the ones we attended earlier. I was first thinking about wearing the red Monica, but since I just had worn it to the photo shoot, I felt I needed something different. Suddenly I remembered that I had a green Ava dress which I had never even worn (I mean the tags were still on even though I bought it two years ago!).

Avasta olen puhunut aiemminkin, että se on 60-luvun mallia mukaillen tehty juhlamekko, joka on 55% polyesteriä, 42% puuvillaa ja 3% spandexia, joten siis mekko joustaa erittäin vähän, mutta tarpeeksi, että sen saa puettua päälle itse ilman suurempia murheita ja etumus on kivasti ristissä niin, ettei isommatkaan rinnat pahasti vilauttele. Ja tosiaan tulppaanihelmaa ei saa unohtaa! Miten ihana kävellä kynämekossa, jossa voi ottaa isompiakin harppauksia ilman, että helma repeää ja ei ole takapuolihalkiota, josta saattaisi vilauttaa enemmän kuin mitä oli tarkoitus. Tämä vihreä oli tosiaan alunperin se must-have, mutta sen metsästämiseen menikin hetki. Onneksi lopulta löysin sen (Mad Men fanityttö, kun olen), vaikka näin kauan meni päästä ulkoiluttamaan sitä. Shirley puki päällensä kauniin samettikynämekon, jonka oli löytänyt edullisesti Topvintagelta. Mekon nimi taisi olla Annabelle ja se on Vintage Chic:in käsialaa.

I've spoken about the Ava before too, mainly to mention that it's an amazing 60's inspired dress that doesn't really stretch much but is really nice to wear and even it's quite open from the bust area it doesn't show too much breasts. Also I must point out that the tulip skirt is really nice, you can take big steps without being afraid of destroying it and you can also bent over without showing things you didn't mean to. This green one was actually the really must-have, but it took me a while to find it (bought the black one first and the violet after). I'm so happy I finally found it (I'm a Mad Men fangirl) even though it took me a very long time to finally wear it. Shirley wore a beautiful velvet pencil dress she found for a good bargain from Topvintage.  I believe it was called Annabelle and it was made by Vintage Chic.

Sitten itse esityksiin. Lava oli melko haasteellisen mallinen, sillä siihen oli luotu catwalk vielä eteen. Tämän vuoksi oli vähän haastava nähdä kunnolla kaikkia esityksiä, esiintyjät käyttivät sekä catwalkkia, että lava esiintymisissään. Onneksi oli kuitenkin big screen, josta näki kaiken, mitä tapahtui. Esityksiä oli monenlaisia; klassisia, rockimpia, oli acrobatiaa, tulella ja valoilla leikkimistä. Nokia Big Band oli myös mahtava, toki kaikki esiintyjät eivät live bändiä hyödyntäneet, mutta ne jotka hyödyttivät, tekivät sen upeasti. Itsellekin tuli semmoinen fiilis, että olisi upea esiintyä lavalla aidon livebändin säestäessä. Ja ulkomaalaisesiintyjät olivat kyllä upeita (kuten toki myös kotimaiset). Erityisesti viimeinen esitys jäi mieleen, vaikka se ei varsinaisesti mitään burleskia ollutkaan, Vicky Butterflyn valoshow oli kyllä mahtava ja musiikki kyllä toimi upeasti.Valitettavasti en onnistunut saamaan kaikista kuvia, mutta tässä on nyt pari.

And then, the show. The stage was a bit challenging because it had also a runway, so we didn't really have good seats in the side to see everything as good as I would have hoped. But thankfully they had a big screen. There were many kind's of show's; fire, lights, acrobats etc. It was really versatile and entertaining. I also loved the Nokia Big Band. Even though all of the performers didn't use them. The whole time I kept dreaming about a day I could perform on stage with such an amazing band playing live in the background. The foreign performers were great, just as well the domestic ones. I think that Vicky Butterfly was one of the performers that really stayed in my mind; specially her last performance, even it wasn't burlesque, it was very entertaining and beautiful. Unfortunately I could not get good photos of everyone, so here is just a few.

Emme kovinkaan pitkään jääneet enää show:n loputtua hengailemaan jatkobileisiin. Joimme yhdet drinkit ja lähdimme suunnistamaan hotellille päin. Kuitenkin kun pääsimme Tampere-talon aulaan, huomasin yhtäkkiä, että siellähän oli Muumi-näyttely ja jäimmekin vielä puoleksi tunniksi ottamaan kuvia Muumeista ja toisistamme. Isona Muumi-fanina olin aivan innoissani kaikesta, mitä ympärillä oli, vaikka itse näyttelyyn en päässytkään.

After the show we didn't stick around for the after party. We had one drink and left. But as we were walking down the hall at Tampere-talo, we noticed suddenly that there were Moomin advertisements everywhere! I was so surprised and happy (I'm a huge Moomin fan). Apparently there was actually a Moomin exhibit, which I unfortunately didn't have a chance to see, but we spend a long time taking pictures with the advertisements.
